I’m going to be sharing a song that I wrote.

Hello everybody, It’s Reanie and I’m back again with another blog! Life has been really busy lately and honestly it’s not a bad thing! I’ve been super productive and I’m starting to take my recovery seriously. Believe me when I say “you only get what you put in.”

I’m so beyond grateful for SafeHopeHome. The organization has saved my life in so many different ways. They’ve provided me with so much, but most importantly they have given me safety, stability and hope.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and support of SafeHope, so thank you all so much for everything! <3

Today I’m going to be sharing a song that I wrote. My hope is that at least one person receives the not so hidden message that my song portrays. These lyrics contain a piece of mine and many other survivors story. I tried my hardest not to sugar coat our trauma. We deserve to have our stories heard exactly how we experienced them.

(MAJOR TRIGGER WARNING!!)

This song consists of many triggering topics such as; physical abuse, course language, and human trafficking.

Please be mindful of your triggers and proceed with caution if you wish to do so.

Red Light Green Light

-By Reanie

(Intro)

Red light green light, Can I go?

If you don’t really love me, Just let me know.

Red light green light, Yellow means slow.

If my light was yellow, Why did you still go?

(why did you still go?)

(Verse)

Manipulate me is what you did. You played with my head, I was a little kid!

Black and blue were the colours you made me, Daddy always told me men don’t hurt their ladies.

(Pre-chorus)

Hands around my neck, they squeeze so tight.

Baby squeeze a little harder, Let me see light!!

I meant it when I said that I love you, when you said it back to me,

There was a price to pay baby.

(Chorus)

Red light green light, Can I go?

If you don’t really love me, Just let me know.

Red light green light, Yellow means slow.

If my light was yellow, Why did you still go?

(why did you still go?)

(Verse)

When you’d bring me out to meet,

All your bros,

Made me dress in all of those,

S*xy clothes.

Than you treat like nothing more than a h**,

How was I ever supposed to know?

(Bridge)

I’m in the game, O’ I’m in the game.

I’m not to blame, We don’t share the blame.

I’m not Insane, You’re the one without a brain.

And I’ve changed, Baby we are not the same.

(we’re not the same)

(Outro)

So red light green light, let him go.

Don’t you settle for less, let your bruises show.

Red light green light, he don’t know.

He don’t know your worth, he don’t know your soul.

Red light green light, let him go.

(let him go. Girl, let him go)

Red light green light, he don’t know

(he don’t know, he don’t know)

 What you now know.

Thank you to everyone who stuck around to listen. I was hesitant about sharing this song with the blog at first, but I’ve decided that it’s the perfect place to be shared. Our voices Will be heard and we Won’t have to suffer in silence any longer.

Let’s take our power back!

(If you resonate to any of these lyrics I strongly encourage you to reach out and ask for help.)

Have a wonderful week everybody and take good care!

-Reanie
